Ashley Watson established Athena Designs in January of 2006 while studying Fashion Design and Fiber Arts at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. With the slogan Fashion for the Earth, Athena Designs is an innovative approach to environmentalism in the ready-to-wear, luxury fashion and textiles market. Focused on a healthier future, Ashley demands environmentally sustainable business practices, and fair labor standards. Athena Designs uses organically grown fibers and renewable resources that support a healthier form of agriculture. Everything is considered including the farmers, the animals and the soil. Soft organic cotton, durable hemp, luxurious tencel and bamboo are some of the natural and earth-friendly fabrics you’ll enjoy. Growing up on a farm in the country, Ashley gained knowledge and respect for land and animals. With the drive for a healthier planet and spreading the message of sustainable development, Ashley became actively involved in the environmental community.
	In 2003 she received the New Brunswick Environmental Youth Leadership Award for her stewardship and involvement in environment related issues. Athena Designs guarantees quality and style. Many designs are made with hand woven fabrics that Ashley weaves on traditional and computerized looms. These fabrics involve complex weave structures, color and texture, as well as hand spun yarns. The woven fabrics are used to create cutting-edge garments and accessories for both men and women.
